The Parc Merveilleux is home to almost 200 different species. During your guided tour, we'll take a closer look at some of them. You'll learn a lot about them by observing and describing them. Do they have feathers or fur? Where do they live? What do they eat? Are they threatened with extinction? Feeding the animals is also part of the program. Content is age appropriated.
Do penguins need snow and ice? Can they fly? Don't they get cold in winter when they come out of the water? So many questions about these birds in suits. We'll answer them all. And towards the end, the feeding of the penguins: what a spectacle!
Little Red Riding Hood and The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids are two of our classic fairy tales in the park. On the one hand, they convey a moral message such as ‘Be well-behaved and follow your mother's instructions’ or ‘Don't open the door to strangers’, but on the other hand, the wolf always has to play the role of the villain. We want to get to know Canis lupus properly and dispel the myth of the big bad wolf.
Wolves are rather shy animals and do not always show themselves where they can be easily observed. We would like to point out to you and your pupils that it is possible that the animals can only be observed from a distance.
(This workshop takes place mostly outdoors, so clothing should be appropriate for the weather!)
Fluttering chiropterans are frightening for some of us. Myths about Count Dracula and vampires make them seem even more frightening. First, we'll take a look at the bat and the flying fox, and then compare them. What do they eat? we'll find out towards the end...
Join us on a scientific expedition throughout the park. We're going on a search for dinosaurs. We'll be meeting their relatives and observe them closely. You'll ask questions and draw conclusions, just like real natural scientists do. You'll find out if there are real dinosaurs living in the park. If you find some, you'll get to feed them.
Most children love rodents, and want to cuddle them. Parc Merveilleux is home to many different rodents, but not all of them are cuddly: some are heavily armed and others have huge teeth. Let's discover and study this large group of animals.
(The guided tour will take place mainly outdoors, so don't forget to bring weather-appropriate clothing!)
It is getting cold, the leaves are falling from the trees, and the park is closed. What about the animals in the park? What do they do in winter? Which animal is adapted to winter temperatures and which is not? What challenges do the animals face with frost and snow, and how do they adapt? We will explore these questions during a walk through the park.
(We will be outside a lot, so please dress for the weather!)
How is our zoo organized? How many animals live at the park? What work has to be done every day? Where is the food prepared? Who takes care of sick animals? Find out about all of this and more with a look behind the scenes at Parc Merveilleux.
